Top Shops of 2012 Northern Ohio Chapter of ABC honors leading merit shops’ work at annual awards M embers of the Northern Ohio chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) recently gathered at 700 BETA Banquet & Conference Center in Mayfield Village to honor top projects completed in the region this year. The Annual ABC Excellence in Construction and Safety Awards Celebration recognizes outstanding quality and innovations in merit shop construction projects. This year, ABC’s top honor – the 2012 Chairman’s Cup award – was presented to Simonson Construction Services, Inc. for a General Electric Lamp Plant restructuring. Independent judges, representing a cross-section of construction industry experts, found the project in Bucyrus, Ohio as the best of 2012. ABC also recognized eight member companies with Diamond Safety Awards, which recognize workplace safety. These included Corporate Electric Company, LLC; Hummel Construction; Janotta & Herner, Inc.; Preferred LLC; Bay Mechanical & Electrical Corp.; Kwest Group, LLC; Clouse Construction Corp.; and North PRIZED PROJECT The historical renovation of the Calfee Building earned Cleveland Bay Construction, Inc. Construction an Excellence Award at ABC’s 2012 Excellence in Construction celebration.
